COMS secure multi-year contract worth up to £2.6million
Coms have secured a multi-year contract worth up to £2.6million with Morgan Sindall, delivering Pre-Operations services at Sellafield Ltd, potentially over the next 6 years.
COMS has grown considerably over the last six years and providing pre-operations, maintenance and engineering support to highly regulated industries across the UK.
Our team of over fifty, specialise in Pre-Operations and Project Start-Up services that ensure “People, Plant and Processes” are fit for purpose and facilitate a project’s transition into its operational phase. We are one of the only organisations who specialise in this field, giving a fully comprehensive service and unparalleled expertise.
Our Operations Director Grant Taylor comments,
“It is fantastic to be awarded further work with Sellafield delivering Pre-Operations support. The business has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and securing a large contract like this is another step forward for the business in demonstrating the scope of work our team of engineers can undertake. I would like to thank the team at Morgan Sindall, the Sellafield Ltd Supply Chain Team and the delivery area Client for giving us this opportunity. Hopefully this gives other SMEs within the industry encouragement to bid for and win long term contracts that will allow growth and investment in the local community”
The perception is that it is often difficult for smaller SMEs and local businesses to secure work within Sellafield, however, this scope of work demonstrates that there are larger contracts available for all types of businesses to bid for and win.
The contract, which has been awarded under the Sellafield LINC with Teir 2’s scheme provides opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to supply indirectly through Sellafield’s Tier 2 suppliers who have been awarded contracts or frameworks with Sellafield Ltd.
Morgan Sindall, who are one of the Tier 2 approved suppliers awarded the contract through the Infrastructure Strategic Alliance (ISA) programme, Steve Dixon, Senior Supply Chain Manager at Morgan Sindall, caddded
“Morgan Sindall are pleased to award the contract for Pre Ops, through the ISA programme to COMS, this award through the SL LINC system provides an example of a success between Sellafield, a large Tier 2 contractor and a local SME working together collaboratively.”
We commenced work at Sellafield in October 2020, delivering Pre-Operations within the ISA programme. The work will be carried out for an initial three years, then after review periods a further two years and a final year to complete the project.
John Berry, Supply Chain Development Team at Sellafield commented,
“This is a great example of how SMEs can achieve success within our supply chain. Companies who can evidence their expertise, capability and show how they add value will always be able to perform well when submitting bids which undergo a robust evaluation process.”
We encourage other SMEs to look for opportunities to work with Sellafield as this collaboration is a great example of how contracts like this can be secured.
