About Cumbria O&M Services

Cumbria O&M Services, COMS, are a Leading UK Provider of Operational, Maintenance and Engineering Services to the Nuclear Sector and Regulated Industries Nationwide

COMS are specialist operations, maintenance and system engineers experienced in managing nuclear projects. We help businesses and organisations within regulated industries realise significant value from their assets, people and processes.

Working across the UK, our network of consultants are experts in operational, maintenance and engineering services. Clients turn to us when looking to plan and implement new builds, extend the life of their assets or efficiently manage decommissioning projects.

As expert problem-solvers for nuclear companies, we begin by carefully analysing data and identifying where any gaps in provision exist. Then, after reviewing existing procedures and processes, we work closely with you to devise and develop a clear strategy and plan. Once implemented, this will drive efficiencies and deliver a tangible return on your investment.

Our multi-skilled team bring simplicity to complex operational engineering challenges, such as those found in nuclear power plants. COMS provides pre-operational and commissioning expertise to projects from concept through to operations and handover.

The systematic approach employed by the COMS team will deliver clarity and understanding across your organisation. Developing your processes and procedures to ensure you have the knowledge and capabilities you need to get the job done right first time – reducing waste and eliminating the need for expensive rework.

COMS are committed to achieving net zero by 2050

We gained ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems accreditation in 2021, the process of achieving this made us evaluate how we operate as a business, our environmental impact, and how we can go about reducing it.

Our recently published carbon reduction plan lays out how we are going to achieve this:

  • through reducing our direct carbon output
  • environmental awareness training for personnel
  • making environmentally conscious decisions in our supply chain
  • where we can’t reduce our emissions to zero we will be utilising carbon offsetting through supporting local environmental initiatives such as the “Restoring Hardknott Forest” project.

As an environmentally conscious nuclear consulting group,COMS are planning to become carbon neutral as soon as practicable and we pledge to continue exploring new carbon reduction initiatives as we continue to grow.

COMS  hold and regularly update the following certifications and memberships to help maintain our value to our clients, as a leading nuclear engineering company in the UK.
